About the Division
The Ophthalmology Division is directed by Prof. Irit Bahar, a renowned specialist in her field. She is a graduate of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology's Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, having completed her fellowship in ophthalmology at Toronto Western Hospital in Toronto. She is an international medical consultant, a member of professional societies and MD students supervisor, a Clinical Associate Professor at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University and has received numerous academic and professional awards.
The Ophthalmology Division is one of the leading and most advanced departments of ophthalmology in Israel providing comprehensive advanced medical care in all fields of ophthalmology. With services both in Beilinson and Hasharon hospitals, it has a wide range of specialty outpatient clinics, an emergency room, six operating theaters and hospitalization wards for post surgical patients and those with complex ophthalmologic problems. State of the art equipment helps the expertise staff reach accurate diagnosis of various eye diseases. The staff performs approximately 4,000 procedures annually, including cataract operations, vitreo-retinal surgery, glaucoma, oculoplastic and orbital trauma, corneal transplantation, strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity, laser and other treatments for diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases. In addition the Ophthalmology Residency Program is one of the premier ophthalmology training programs in Israel.

•Ophthalmology Service, Hasharon Hospital: Headed by Dr. Karin Mimouni, provides both specialist outpatient and surgical services.
•Outpatient Clinics (Beilinson and Hasharon): Headed by Dr. Itay Gabbay, serve as specialist clinics for all patient needs:
Cataract Service (Beilinson and Hasharon): Treats patients needing to undergo cataract surgery, benefiting from the experience of world-class surgeons consistently rated as Israel's best.
Cornea Service (Beilinson and Hasharon): Headed by Prof. Eitan Livny A center for corneal transplants and the treatment of corneal diseases and conditions.
Glaucoma Service (Beilinson): Headed by Prof. Noa Geffen, uncovers the earliest signs of glaucoma, using the newest laser and surgical techniques and drug therapies available.
Neuro-Ophthalmology Service (Beilinson): Headed by Prof. Hadas Kalish, investigates and treats optic neuritis, thyroid-related eye disease, ischemic optic neuropathy, blepharospasm, and hemifacial spasm.
Oculoplastics Service (Beilinson and Hasharon): Headed by Dr. Iftach Yasur, is the largest service of its kind in the country. Oculoplastic surgery focuses on problems surrounding the eyeball (the lids, the orbit and the lacrimal system) as well as artificial eyes.
Retina Service (Beilinson and Hasharon): Headed by Prof. Rita Ehrlich, is a leading center for all vitreoretinal diseases, including medical retina for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, retinitis pigmentosa and retinal vascular diseases. The surgical retina section performs retinal detachment operations, vitrectomy and other advanced surgical procedures and techniques. Uveitis Service (Beilinson and Hasharon): Headed by Prof. Michal Kramer, investigates and treats intraocular inflammatory diseases.
