About the Institute
The Institute of Pulmonary Medicine is headed by Prof. Mordechai Kramer, a renowned expert in all areas of pulmonary care and considered one of the top specialists in his field. A full Professor at Tel Aviv University, Sackler Faculty of Medicine, he completed several fellowships in the United States, specializing in pulmonary care and lung transplantation and has published many articles in leading scientific publications.
The Pulmonary Institute is a leading center of excellence, the largest of its kind in Israel, providing diagnosis and treatment for all aspects of lung disease, including asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. The Institute is a national referral center receiving patients from throughout the country and part of the only hospital which currently performs all of the lung transplants in Israel. The outpatient clinics treat more than 20,000 patients yearly.
UNITS OF EXPERTISE
Lung Transplantation Unit: Leading in lung transplants, an expert team using the most advanced techniques and equipment, treats lung disease patients before and after their lung transplantation over 650 lung transplant has been done in our center.
Bronchoscopy Unit: Invasive diagnostic and curative bronchoscopies are performed using optic devices and laser instruments, as well as insertion of intra bronchial stents for respiratory tract dilatation.
Day Care Service: An ambulatory service for various treatments, including inhalations, intravenous drugs, pleural effusion drainage and biopsies of the pleura.
Pulmonary Functions Laboratory: Measuring lung volumes, oxygen levels and blood gases as well as performing cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit: Intensive rehabilitation activity for severe pulmonary patients.
Sleep Disorder Laboratory: Diagnosing sleep disorders with a main focus on Sleep Apnea Syndrome.
Pulmonary Hypertension Center: Special clinic for treating and diagnosis of patients with various causes of pulmonary hypertension.
Allergy Unit: Diagnosis and therapy of allergic disorders.
