Emek Medical Center is located in the northeast of Israel and serves a population of nearly a million people. Emek is the largest and most central hospital in the northeast, exposed to 4 volatile combat borders: Hamas in neighboring Jenin (10 miles), Southern Lebanon's Hezbollah, Radwan forces (50 miles), Syria (48 miles) and Jordan (18 miles).

Already in 2006, the hospital was targeted by long-range missiles from southern Lebanese territory, and today this threat is more real and dangerous than ever. In addition to this, Emek is adjacent to Samaria Palestinian controlled areas (Jenin) where the IDF has been operating for many months with the aim of preventing terrorism in the nearby Israeli settlements, and we are well aware of the difficult and deadly terrorist incidents that have happened in our area. The hospital has fully and partially protected areas where the hospital will function during scenarios of rocket and/or terrorist threats.
During these times of war, the population of our area is expected to grow further with the absorption of people close to the border.
This is already happening as we absorb people from the Gaza region.
