Laughter heals. It is known that a medical clown, or Dream Doctor, appearing at the side of a sick child at the opportune moment often transforms the hospital treatment/experience into a pleasant and memorable one – for the child, the family and the attending medical staff. These wonderful clowns have the ability to bring smiles & laughter when children are worried, in pain or vulnerable in what is to them an uncertain hospital environment. The therapeutic magic of these clowns has been proved time and again and this heart-warming service needs to be lovingly available to our Pediatric Emergency Services, Pediatric Surgical and Internal Medicine Wards and Pediatric Oncology Department.
Emek (a 649 bed facility) is northeast Israel’s primary healthcare provider serving 700,000 citizens. The Emek School for Hospitalized Children offers academic lessons (specific for each age group), games, arts & crafts, supervised internet activity and individual counseling.
