Clalit's Soroka Medical Center:

The European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Has Awarded the Department

Another Professional Standards Certificate

The European Association of Rehabilitation Physicians has awarded a professional standards certificate to the rehabilitation program for patients in a poor functional state due to general illness and COVID-19 to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Soroka University Medical Center, headed by Dr. Yuli Trager.

Soroka's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine was the first rehabilitation medicine department in Israel to be awarded a professional standards certificate by the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM) for a rehabilitation program for stroke patients and the first department to receive accreditation in rehabilitation. The latest certificate, which recognizes the quality and safety of the medical treatment provided to patients in the rehabilitation program, is awarded to hospitals worldwide that meet the ESPRM's standards.

The ESPRM certification process takes approximately a year and a half. During this time, the rehabilitation program is evaluated based on a long list of standards divided into two main subjects: clinical standards and administrative standards.

The department's multi-professional staff includes dedicated rehabilitation nurses and teams of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and rehabilitation psychologists.

The department has advanced, state-of-the-art equipment for patients and caregivers.

Since the department opened eight years ago, it has successfully treated hundreds of patients in all the usual areas of rehabilitation medicine. These include orthopedics, limb amputations, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, oncology, serious diseases, recent heart, lung, or intestinal surgery, and more.

The department's staff does everything possible to enable patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals during hospitalization.

The current department has 20 inpatient beds. A rehabilitation building that will include a hospital ward with 36 adult beds, a pediatric ward, and hydrotherapy pools is currently under construction.

Dr. Yuli Trager, head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Soroka: "Thanks to the wonderful professional work of the dedicated employees of the department, we received another certificate from the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Undoubtedly, implementing processes that lead to meeting goals and continuously improving our work has a noble purpose: serving our patients. We will do everything to maximize our professional capabilities to enable our patients to reach their rehabilitation goals in the best possible way."
