On the first day of the war, Soroka Medical Center established a dedicated acute pain management team to handle the overwhelming influx of casualties. Dr. Dmitry Natanel provided personalized, high-quality care to post-operative patients.
Later, Dr. Michael Dubilet, Director of the Acute Pain Management Service, along with experts Dr. Hasan Afuni and Dr. Kaid Alanbary, anesthesiologists, and pain management nurse Zehava Yochai, continued this mission.
Throughout the day, the team visits various wards, offering tailored pain management strategies for war casualties, focusing on regional and neuroaxial pain relief (epidurals). They also ensure optimal pain management for surgical cases and provide guidance to fellow anesthesiologists.
Prof. Alexander Zlotnik, Head of the ICU and Anesthesiology division, expresses his immense pride, "This team has tended to hundreds of hospitalized patients, and I personally take great pride in their invaluable work. Establishing such a team amidst unprecedented patient volumes is no small feat. Even in these challenging times, Soroka Medical Center remains dedicated to upholding its reputation as a 'pain-free hospital'."
