Dr. Shlomi Codish, Director General: "On Saturday, October 7th, as war erupted, Soroka Medical Center confronted challenges of an unparalleled magnitude — challenges no other hospital in Israel has ever had to face. The number of wounded, the severity of the injuries, and the rate at which they arrived at our emergency department all challenged our treatment capacity.
As we gear up for this battle to save Israel we must expand the capacity and precision of our life-saving units. We know from previous events and the events of October 7th that we will remain the primary destination for the most critically wounded patients, primarily IDF soldiers.
Today, we keep preparing for all eventualities that might result from a wide scale war in Gaza, only 40 kilometers from us, to keep providing the best medical care. In hope for better days."
