About Us

Green Hospital

At Soroka, we realize that the resources of Earth are not infinite, so we take the lead on a wide range of activities aimed at preserving the environment.

As the only hospital in the entire Negev region, Soroka is highly aware of the environment's significant influence on health.

We are committed to leading the way in educating the public and taking an active role in preserving the environment and minimizing pollution.

Part of this effort involves the implementation of environmentally-friendly practices.

  • Using innovative technologies for shredding, sterilizing, and removing medical waste on site
  • Collecting electronic waste
  • Collecting medications in an environmentally-friendly way
  • Replacing computer screens with new models that are less polluting, save more electricity, and emit less radiation than the old ones
  • Saving paper—reliable digital media are employed to save medical data so that paper does not have to be used:
    • all the ICUs have been computerized
    • all lab tests are available via computer
  • Saving electricity—we are taking steps to save electricity by using fluorescent bulbs rather than incandescent ones. Lights, computer screens, and air conditioners are turned off during hours when there is no activity.
