Members of the Friends of
Soroka perform a variety of tasks and take on many challenges, all of which aim
to ensure that Soroka offers professional medical services of the highest
standards to the citizens of the Negev and to the IDF soldiers who serve in the
South of Israel and on the southern front.
All of this work is done
on a completely voluntary basis. Since the creation of the
Friends of Soroka, the
generous donations and support of its members and donors have enabled it to
purchase essential equipment and fund vital projects for the hospital, helping
to bridge the gap between the level of healthcare in the center of Israel and
that in the South.
The Friends works to
deepen the connection between the local community and the hospital and to raise
awareness among Israelis of Soroka Medical Center’s status as a world-class
hospital and a strategic asset in times of peace and war alike.
The generous donations of
the residents of the Negev, the business and industrial sectors, and the
workers’ unions through the Friends of Soroka enable Soroka, via its executive
management, to purchase state of- the-art medical equipment for various
hospital departments and support essential projects.
Over the last
several years, the Friends of Soroka has focused on many such projects at
Soroka, among them:
- Reconstructing and upgrading the Cardiology Department
- Equipping the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department
- Equipping the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department
- Equipping the Intensive Care Unit
