The Ophthalmology section at the Soroka Medical Center promotes, and participate, in a variety of ongoing multicenter clinical trials, promotes studies in basic science, and genetics. The division is affiliated to the University of Ben-Gurion in the Negev.
Any conducted research is held under the approval of the Helsinki committee, and follows worldwide standards.
Any participant has to sign an informed consent after a comprehensive explanation of all the details regarding the study, the objective of the study, and a list of benefits, alternatives to the treatment, and possible risks.
Any candidate is informed that he has the right to refuse to participate, as well as to withdraw at any moment from the trail, unaffecting his regular treatment.
A team of medical doctor, research coordinator, dedicate nurse and technician follow every participating patient on regular predetermined intervals.
