The Davidoff Cancer Center at RMC introduces their new Linear Accelerator for Radiotherapy
The Revolutionary True Beam LINAC System
In 2005 the Davidoff Cancer Center opened its doors with two advanced linear accelerator Suites, then the best in the country. Today they have 5 linear accelerators for radiation treatment including their newest addition the True Beam LINAC. The Davidoff Center is headed by Dr. Naftaly Meydan and the Radiotherapy Institute is headed by Prof. Eyal Fenig, where Dr. Aaron Allen is head of new technologies.
The True Beam LINAC is the most advanced innovative accelerator on the market today and provides a radically different approach to cancer treatment, allowing the oncologists and multidisciplinary teams the power to manage challenging cancers with unparalleled ease and precision. Designed in a patient-friendly look with a beautiful sleek design, it is more powerful than any other linear accelerator and provides new and improved approaches for treating cancer with radiotherapy. Exceptionally important for the patient it deliver treatments up to 50 percent faster with a dose delivery rate which is double the maximum output of earlier accelerators making it possible to shorten treatments and to improve precision by leaving less time for tumor motion during dose delivery. In some cases it will be possible to provide 1-5 radiotherapy sessions instead of 40-50 and a standard intensity-modulated treatment that would typically take ten minutes can be completed in less than two minutes. The capabilities of the True beam LINAC are unmatched by any other linear accelerator and will allow us to improve conventional treatments as well as very challenging cases proving our patients more options for fighting their disease.
