The Oncology Division is directed by Prof. Aaron Sulkes, a distinguished oncologist, Clinical Professor of Oncology at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
The Hemato-Oncology Division is directed by Prof. Ofer Shpilberg, a renowned expert in the field of Hematology, Associate Professor at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
The Davidoff Center, which opened in 2005 within the Rabin Medical Center campus is a uniquely advanced facility, and was established thanks to the vision and generosity of the Davidoff Family. This free-standing center brought a previously unobtainable standard of medical care to the people of Israel and is considered one of the finest of its kind in Israel and the Middle East, providing state-of-the-art advanced cancer care to oncology and hemato-oncology patients.
The Davidoff Center’s oncology and hemato-oncology units offer comprehensive diagnosis and treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, bone marrow transplantation, and immunotherapy using a multidisciplinary approach. Its dedicated staff treats over 16% of all new cancer patients in Israel every year who choose the Davidoff Center, which aims to save lives and provide patients with the best personalized treatment options and quality of life. More than 200 people are employed at the Davidoff Center including 45 physicians, 90 nurses, 2 dieticians, 5 social workers, 2 psychologists, one psychiatrist and other administrative staff.
The overwhelming generosity of the Davidoff Family also ensured that the Center continue to be a renowned leader in its field through the Davidoff Foundation, which funds fellowships at major hospitals abroad as well as hosts renowned cancer experts at the Center in order to bring the best minds and ideas to this facility. They also initiated the Davidoff Center’s International Board: a group of experts from leading institutions from around the world that regularly meet in Israel to share their insights and experience.
Departments
The David Baruch Chemotherapy Day Care Unit provides cancer therapy protocols, including chemotherapy, individualized to meet the needs of each patient. With an emphasis on privacy and empathy the patients receive their treatments in 60 unique chemotherapy stations, all equipped with either special reclining chairs or comfortable beds and other accessories like a private television and a partition for those who prefer privacy, rest and quiet.
The Unit of Radiotherapy, headed by Prof. Eyal Fenig has four linear accelerators to accurately and precisely deliver required radiation treatments. Their newest addition, the TruBeam LINAC, is the most advanced innovative accelerator on the market today.
The Jacques Grunblatt Department of Oncology, headed by Prof. Aaron Sulkes, is an in-patient facility which offers premier medical care and first class hospitalization conditions in 25 private or semi private luxurious rooms for patients undergoing specific treatments for various oncological diseases.
The Gabrielle Rich Department of Hemato-Oncology, headed by Prof. Pia Raanini, is an in-patient facility with 15 semi or private rooms which present individualized care and a unique innovative comprehensive treatment program for hematological malignancies.
The Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, headed by Dr. Moshe Yeshurun, is a state-of-the-art premier facility for the treatment of hematologic malignancies, stem cell disorders, inherited disorders of the blood and various solid tumors. The ward has 8 private rooms especially equipped to ensure sterile conditions which are critical for patients before and after bone marrow transplant.
The Yoran Center for Oncologic Pharmacology, an ultra modern pharmacy unit for the often complex preparation of chemotherapy drugs, specifically oriented for each patient.

The Breast Oncology Unit, headed by Dr. Shulamith Rizel which provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care from the moment of diagnosis, offering a full array of individualized treatment options and supportive services for breast cancer, which remains the most common form of women's cancers.
The Gastrointestinal Malignancy Unit, headed by Dr. Baruch Brenner, specializes in the diagnosis, staging and treatment of all cancers arising within the GI tract, including the associated organs of the liver, biliary system, pancreas and neuroendocrine system.
The Head and Neck Tumor Service, headed by Dr. Aron Popovtzer provides expert care of head and neck tumors and had over 300 new patients in 2009.
The Gynecologic Oncology Service, headed by Dr. Claude Koren, provides diagnosis and treatment options for cancers of the female organs, including cervical and ovarian cancer.
The Uro-Oncology Unit, headed by Dr. Eli Rosenbaum, deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of cancers of the urinary tract and male productive organs such as prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancers. The Unit treated about 250 new patients in 2009.
The Lung Cancer Service headed by Dr. Dov Flex provides comprehensive consultative and treatment services for patients with lung malignancies including advanced and innovative treatments. In 2009 they treated about 160 new patients.
The Palliative Care Unit headed by Dr. Shimon Wein is an integral part of comprehensive patient care, aiming to provide relief and improved quality of life through symptom management and pain control, helping the patient to maintain the highest possible quality of life.
Based on a multidisciplinary holistic approach, the Davidoff Center focuses on the entire spectrum of the patient’s needs and his well-being, and includes the following unique services:
The Psycho-Oncology Service, headed by Dr. Shlomit Peri, is part of the interdisciplinary team model and provides support for the whole person and the family. It addresses the patient's psychological, emotional and social needs.
The Integrative Medicine Unit, headed by Dr. Ofer Caspi, working simultaneously with the multi disciplinary team of specialists at the Davidoff Center they offer many different types of complementary therapies including acupuncture sessions supplemented by the use of Chinese herbs, shiatsu and reflexology, mind-body therapies such as hypnosis and interactive guided imagery, naturopathic medicine, consultations and group therapies such as Yoga, Pilates , Tai-Chi, and Feldenkrais. These therapies focus on prevention and minimization of side effects, symptom management, immune enhancement, and quality of life.
The Meir Laiser Cancer Information Center, directed by Shlomit Gadot, provides cancer patients and their families with up-to-date relevant and reliable information. Staffed by a professional information specialist and knowledgeable well-trained volunteers the material they provide enables patients to benefit from better understanding of their medical condition, reducing stress created by the unknown and misunderstood, and gives them the tools to actively participate in important decision-making regarding their care.
The Beauty Salon provides wigs to our cancer patients free of charge. This one-of-a-kind salon was started by cancer survivor and hairstylist Eli Ben Zikri, who was shocked at the impact that losing one’s hair can have on cancer patients’ quality of life.
Research
Research is a vital component in the fight against malignant diseases. The Charles E. Trobman Oncology Data Management Center is at the core of many of the Davidoff Center’s research efforts.
Many important clinical trials in the field of oncology have been pursued over the years in areas relating to breast, gastro-intestinal, hematology, lung, genito-urinary, brain and other malignancies.
The hemato-oncology research program comprises a basic experimental lab, systematic reviews & meta-analyses, clinical trials, initiatives for first original clinical trials, retrospective analyses, and a Bio (Tissue) Bank. The research focus is on MCL, CML, APL and they were recently awarded research grants from Tel Aviv University and the Caesarea Foundation.
