Dr. Eyran Halpern and the staff of Rabin Medical Center mourn the loss of a true friend of the hospital who dedicated so many years of his life leading American Friends of Rabin Medical Center.

In honor of 75 years of Beilinson Hospital's achievements, the RMC Israeli Friends Association held a Gala event in the presence of over 1000 guests

Prof. Ran Kornowski, Head of the Interventional Cardiology Institute, at Rabin Medical Center: ''I am delighted and proud to announce that the heart catheterizations of tomorrow are already here''.

Mr. Dudi Wiessman, prominent Israeli businessman, President of Alon Group and Chairman of Dor Alon, Blue Square and Alon USA which is headquartered in Dallas Texas, invited a delegation form Rabin Medical Center to meet with several leading medical Institutions in Dallas, to discuss possibilities for collaboration in research, specifically relating to Cardiology. The delegation was headed by Dr. Eyran Halpern, CEO of Rabin Medical Center accompanied by Mr. Pini Cohen, successful businessman, Chairman of Friends of Rabin Medical Center and a close friend of Mr. Wiessman, and leading RMC physicians in the field of cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

The staff of Rabin Medical Center deeply mourn the passing of Leon Davidoff. Thanks to his great vision and his family’s generosity, the Davidoff Center for treatment of cancer patients and research of malignant diseases was established at Beilinson Hospital.

For over a week the computers of all the staff at Rabin Medical Center were inundated with strange pop ups such as ''where were you on March 31st, 2005 when the dwarf planet Makemake, was discovered'' ''where were you on the 22nd of February 1992, when the sheep Dolly was cloned'' and so on. Finally we learned that this was all part of a special campaign to kick off a new volunteering project of the hospital which has two goals, to help the Ethiopian Community and to be an active partner in the struggle against traffic accidents that in 2009 took the lives of 449 Israelis.

The Mair Laiser Information Center, at the Davidoff Center, was founded thanks to a donation by the Laiser family in memory of Mair Laiser who was Chairman of the Israel Friends of Rabin Medical Center from 1997-2003.

Even in These Challenging Times, not a seat was empty and not a place was to be had at the Annual Benefit Gala of the American Friends of Rabin Medical Center, Costing USD $1,000 per Ticket.

Mr. Zvi Ziv, Chief Executive Officer of Bank Hapoalim, at the request of Dr. Eyran Halpern, CEO of Rabin Medical Center (RMC) and the management of Friends of RMC has generously agreed to lead a fundraising campaign for the establishment of a new Trauma Unit at RMC, Beilinson Hospital. This unit will be established as part of the new Center for Emergency Medicine and Trauma in the name of Daniel Jusidman whose total cost is estimated to be 17 million USD.

Continuing in their lifelong tradition of philanthropy which spans years of generosity and infinite compassion toward others “The Abe and Irene Pollin Award of Excellence” was presented to four staff members of Rabin Medical Center for outstanding excellence in their work.

Close to 24 million shekels have been generously donated by Mr. Daniel Jusidman , a resident of Mexico, for the establishment of a new Center for Emergency Medicine and Trauma at Beilinson Hospital, Rabin Medical Center. The Center will be called The Daniel Jusidman Center for Emergency Medicine and Trauma.

A new unit for the prevention and early detection of gastrointestinal cancer was recently inaugurated at The Institute of Gastroenterology at Rabin Medical Center, named after Lucy and Shimon Sestopali. The unit, to be headed by renowned gastroenterologist Prof. Paul Rozen, was founded thanks to generosity of a bequest in the will of Lucy and Shimon Sestoplali in recognition of the professors’work in early detection and prevention of gastrointestinal cancer.

Hundreds of friends gathered at the Tel Aviv Museum for the Friends’ annual Gala Event, to support the Heart Catheterization Institute, headed by Prof. Ran Kornovski. Shalom Hanoch, one of Israel’s most well-known singers, gave an extraordinary voluntary performance, together with his accompanist, Moshe Levi on the piano. The audience was most enthusiastic, joining in on the more popular songs.

Rabin Medical Center, a model of superb medical care in serene artistic surroundings held a dual dedication ceremony for The Yoran Center for Oncologic Pharmacology at the Davidoff Center, donated by Shalom and his wife Varda Yoran, at the Davidoff Center and the unveiling of the sculpture “Family” created by the artist and donor Varda Yoran.

The event was held at the Landmark Cipriani —one of New York’s finest and most elegant of venues. CNN journalist and TV personality Larry King hosted the event for his fifth consecutive year. Trading in his trademark suspenders for a tuxedo, King conducted a candid interview with U.N. ambassador John Bolton.

The Day Care Floor was established thanks to the generous 2 million dollar donation of David Baruch, a Jewish entrepreneur from New York. The three wings on the floor are named in memory of his beloved parents and his nephew.

During Rudolf Giuliani’s recent trip to Israel, he asked for a visit to the Davidoff Center, which is the largest Cancer treatment center in the Middle East, located in the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva, Israel.

For some people Passover vacation is a time for picnics, traveling and visiting friends and family but for others it is the perfect time to do something for others. Such is the case of Jackie Elias, an active member of American Friends of Rabin Medical Center in the USA and her friend and trainer in Israel Stephan Sarkissiran who organized a bike-a-thon to raise money for the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Rabin Medical Center, directed by Prof. Bernardo Vidne. For Jackie, having lost her father 4 years ago from heart failure, this was a personal quest in the hope of saving others.

A New sculpture at Rabin Medical Center. Another beautiful sculpture has been added to the growing collection at Rabin Medical Center. Raya Yaglom, Past President of Wizo Israel, donated this particular piece, which is the work of the Israeli artist Eli Elan and is his fourth sculpture at our hospital.

Barry and Yvonne Cohen, along with their daughters Yvette and Denise and their beautiful grandchildren, came to participate in the Davidoff Center Inauguration. Yet, in the midst of preparations for the Inauguration, on December 19th, 2004, another smaller and more intimate gathering took place, to honor the overwhelming contribution of the Cohen Family to Rabin Medical Center.

In a highly emotional evening, more than 1000 guests attended the inauguration of the Davidoff Center at Rabin Medical Center, where they came to extend their overwhelming gratitude to the benefactors, Leon & Ruth and Jacques and Monique Davidoff. Three generations of the Davidoff Family arrived to share in the realization of this dream, the first comprehensive center for the treatment and research of cancer in Israel. This center represents a new concept in the field of oncology and places Israel alongside leading cancer centers worldwide.

The day after the Davidoff inauguration, an international scientific symposium in Oncology and Hemato-oncology was held at the Felsenstein Research Facility on the Beilinson campus of RMC. Participating in the event were renowned physicians and scientists from around the globe. Lecturers included Prof. Zvi Fuks and Prof Robert Wittes of Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the Israeli Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry; Prof. Aaron Ciechanover was the honorary guest. The symposium presented important aspects in regards to the latest treatments and research of cancer.
